When Chip and Joanna Gaines decided to give their very own HGTV series a shot in 2013, they probably never could have imagined how much it would change their lives!
In the six years since, the two have definitely become household names, and although Fixer Upper has been off the air since last April, Chip and Joanna continue to rise. They have a series of successful businesses under the Magnolia name; they even have their own cable network set to premiere next summer! So it’s no surprise that a quick bite out to eat for the couple would be interrupted by some fans, right? Right!
Chip and Joanna were in Minneapolis when they decided to go out to eat.
The couple, who reside in Waco, Texas, was likely in Minneapolis for meetings at the Target headquarters, as they have a Magnolia collaboration available at Target locations. However, a quiet date night out at Nolo’s Kitchen & Bar quickly turned into many people fanning out. Fans approached the couple for photos and took the opportunity to chat with Chip and Joanna throughout their evening.
It’s hard to believe that just six years ago, Chip and Joanna Gaines lived in relative anonymity. A lot has changed for the couple since their decision to film Fixer Upper.
Nowadays, things look a little different for the couple. They were named among the Most Influential People of 2019 by Time.
They may not be filming Fixer Upper, but they’ve got their sights on bigger things. The couple is working on their own cable network, which will replace Discovery’s DIY Network starting next summer.
Their Magnolia businesses are also in full bloom. From the Magnolia Market to the bakery and restaurant, everything is flourishing. It’s a good time to be Chip and Joanna.
The couple was recently in Minneapolis. It’s believed they were attending meetings at the Target headquarters.
Joanna also definitely stopped by one of the stores! She was gracious enough to snap a picture with employees who helped her out.
It wasn’t their first time in the area, either. Joanna was spotted at Pacifier, a children’s boutique, shopping for Crew in December.
The couple stopped by Nolo’s Kitchen & Bar in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood. They were looking for a quiet date night with “a private dining experience,” according to Star Tribune.
Things didn’t quite go according to plan. Chip and Joanna quickly found that they had quite the fan base in Minneapolis.
Beverage director Travis Waltz told Star Tribune about the evening. “They definitely had their share of overly friendly patrons that were jumping over to their table trying to get their Instagram photos with them throughout the night,” he said.
Despite that, Chip and Joanna kept their friendly demeanor. They were welcoming to those who approached them.
One of the patrons who got to meet Chip and Joanna was Rachael Hoff. She shared her experience with the Star Tribune, saying, “They were so genuine and down to earth. When I went to ask them if I could take a picture, Chip was quick to welcome me to sit down next to him. They look and act exactly the way they appear on television. Just amazing people!”
The staff wasn’t so clued in on what was going on. In fact, Travis had to ask a server. “I had to ask one of my servers why people kept wanting to take pictures with table 65,” he admitted.
Chip and Joanna don’t consider themselves big celebrities, which is probably what makes them so approachable. Hopefully, their fans’ excitement didn’t get in the way of their night out on the town.
