Alexa Greenfield, 26, went to the US Open with her sister and nephews. While sitting down and enjoying lunch during the match, Alexa warned her nephews she was about to do something strange in front of them — and to keep it a secret from the rest of their family.

Little did Alexa know her next move would be captured on camera for all the world to see.

The young woman proceeded to take one of her chicken fingers and dip it straight into her glass of ice-cold Coca-Cola before eating it. She had no clue the camera crew was videotaping the whole thing and broadcasting it on televisions across the country.

Once the clip was posted on ESPN’s Twitter, Alexa was instantly thrust into the viral video limelight, and social media was sent into an absolute frenzy. It’s become common for people to dunk their french fries into ice cream, but dunking poultry into a soft drink? Blasphemy!

Now Alexa has come forward to explain herself. She says her dad taught her the trick as a way to cool off the chicken. Since she also liked the taste of Coke mixed with the breaded chicken, she kept doing it. She also says she knows her chicken-dipping habit is strange, but she never expected to be called a “Psycho Chicken Finger Soda Dipper” on the internet.
