The Best Celebrity Mustaches In Honor Of No-Shave November And Movember

by Angela Andaloro

Halloween is officially behind us. While for many people that means full steam ahead toward Christmas, others take the month of November to reflect on important issues and have a little fun with their facial hair.

Beards and mustaches will be blooming as the month progresses, and it’s all for a good cause.

There are two different organizations that raise money for charity during November with a hair growth challenge. There’s No-Shave November, which challenges both men and women to ditch shaving for the month. They encourage participants to donate the money they would spend on grooming in that time toward the organizations they support. Then there’s Movember. Over the years, it has evolved from mustache growing for cancer fundraising and awareness to something greater.

This year, Movember looks to tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

Celebrities have been known to get in on the hair-growing, fundraising fun. Some celebrities have a jump on that fun, however, sporting sweet facial hair year-round. Here are some of the most iconic examples to give you some inspiration to get you through the month.

It’s officially November! As the holidays approach, it’s a good time to think of giving back. For many men and women around the world, No-Shave November and Movember are good ways of kicking off the season of giving.

No-Shave November challenges men and women to ditch the hair grooming for a month. Letting facial and body hair grow frees up funds that would otherwise go toward maintaining those things, which brings us to the fundraising side.

The organization encourages participants to donate that money toward worthy causes. This year, the charities that are partnering with No-Shave November are the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Then there’s Movember, which has expanded beyond its original mission of growing mustaches for men’s cancer awareness. Now the organization looks to raise awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

It has also expanded the ways to participate so that non-mustache-havers can help out. You can also move 60 miles during the month of November in honor of the 60 men lost to suicide each hour, every hour, around the world. You can also host a fundraising event.

For some, the idea of growing epic facial hair might be a little daunting. A month is, after all, a long time to let it grow, especially if you’re someone who has fast-growing hair. Thankfully, there are some examples of iconic celebrity facial hair that can help guide you in the right direction.

Tom Selleck doesn’t has one of the most iconic mustaches in Hollywood and arguably of all time. While there have been a few times over the years when he’s sported a fresh-faced look, we all know this is the mustache to live up to.

You could argue, however, that Tom inherited the King of the Mustache title from none other than the late Burt Reynolds. The actor may have changed up his style from time to time, but his mustache was a constant reminder of his ’70s sex-symbol status.

We can’t forget Lionel Richie, whose illustrious mustache has stayed in the same great shape throughout his entire career. He recently revealed that tweezing is the secret to getting it perfect, and he isn’t afraid to do it often.

Now onto one of the most fanned-over mustaches of today, that of Nick Offerman. Nick’s mustache is so epic that in 2012, he made a hilarious video on how to grow and care for one just like it for Movember.

If it seems unfathomable to you that someone could still rock a handlebar mustache in this day and age, you’re forgetting about the incomparable Hulk Hogan. The mustache is part of what makes the wrestling icon who he is.

Eddie Murphy’s mustache is another notable addition to the list. Eddie likes to keep it on the shorter side and meticulously groomed. He sometimes pairs it with a hint of a soul patch below his lower lip.

Now, let’s switch gears to beards, which are easier for a lot of people to grow. Jason Momoa is one of the leading members of this pack. While Jason shaved off his beard earlier this year after seven years of growing it out, it’s slowly working its way back to its former glory.

Then there’s David Beckham. He’s known for being quite a stylish guy, and his beard is no exception to that. He’s rocked a few different styles over the years, from well-manicured goatee to full-on bushy beard.

This list wouldn’t be complete without mention of Idris Elba. The actor, who also does some DJ-ing in his spare time, keeps a beard that looks awesome whether short or long. Sometimes Idris keeps things clean with a goatee look, but he has been known to grow out to a full beard now and again.

If you were used to John Krasinski’s fresh-faced look on The Office, your jaw probably hit the floor when you saw what he looks like nowadays. Not only has he turned into a buff action star, but he’s grown one of Hollywood’s greatest beards.

LeBron James has always sported a little something on his face, but in recent years he’s become dedicated to perfecting his beard game. In the last two years, he’s been letting it get lengthy, and it looks amazing.

Last, but not least, we’ve got Chris Evans. He’s left the clean-shaven days of his early career behind in favor of a more rugged look deserving of the Captain America name. Some may think it’s a shame not to let that strong jawline show, but it’s an even bigger shame to leave it unadorned.
