Mom Recounts The Terrifying Ordeal Of Suffering From Cancer During Her Pregnancy

When Michelle Jahnke found out she was pregnant, she and her husband couldn’t be any more overjoyed. She went for checkups and doctor’s visits, thinking that it was all routine procedure.

Then her doctors got back to her with some devastating news: Michelle was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer. She was told that she needed to abort her baby. However, Michelle knew that there was no other choice but to keep the child: she says that either the cancer would have killed her, or the choice to abort would. Five specialists had the same solution, until one oncologist gave her a treatment plan that would try to save both her and her baby. So Michelle started chemotherapy, hoping for the best.

For nine months, Michelle didn’t stop fighting. She says that she probably fought harder because she was carrying a little miracle, but she could only hope for the best and that her baby girl would be born unharmed from the treatment.

The child was born via C-section, and much to the parents’ delight, she was born healthy! Now, almost four years later, the happy family can only describe the result of their ordeal as a miracle.
