When an embryo develops in the womb, there are so many things that can happen and that can feasibly go wrong.

Thankfully, our DNA knows exactly how to arrange itself so that we are born without disability — though there are, of course, exceptions.

In the animal kingdom, we have seen cases of polycephaly, or animals that are born with more than one head. Sometimes, both heads can even be totally independent of each other. This means that the two or more heads have autonomous functions, though they share a single body.

This was the case of a buffalo calf on a farm in Pakistan.

The calf was born at the Lucky Foods Dairy Farm, and folks there believe that the little one is a miracle.

Of course, there is always debate about whether or not the animal should be considered to be a single individual or two.

The phenomenon is rare, but not unheard of. Check out this two-headed calf named Lucky who was embraced by her human family despite her odd appearance!

It is not known whether or not the calf will survive past a few months, as he may encounter some developmental issues, but we’re sure the farmers will take very good care of the animal until that time comes.
