As cute as he looks now, this baby horse named Breeze didn’t always have things so easy. His mother abandoned him in Dartmoor National Park only hours after his birth. He was scared, alone, and dehydrated.
One day, everything turned around for the poor orphaned horse.
A local equine sanctuary spotted him all by himself and in grave condition. He was still shocked and traumatized by his abandonment and wasn’t coping well, nor was he being cared for. The group took him in to raise him back to health and keep up his spirits.
In the video below posted on March 19, 2017, his new caretaker named Tracy explains, “Because he doesn’t have his mom, he’s done very very poorly.” Breeze hadn’t received the nutrients of antibiotics he needed to live a fit life and grow to his full potential.
She adds that the staff looks after the baby horse day and night to help him adjust to his new world. Although he now had proper nutrition and a stable habitat, there was something missing from his situation. Then, they gave Breeze a special teddy bear.
Tracy says, “We have appealed for teddy bears for him, so that gives him something to cuddle up to at night. It’s sort of a replacement of his mom, just that he’d cuddle.” She adds, “As you can see from today, he’s feeling much brighter and a lot happier and hopefully, he’ll make a speedy recovery.”
