Flyers about pets have been around forever. Sometimes you’ll be driving down the street and see a poster looking for a missing pet, or perhaps you’ll see a phone number for a family whose pet just had a litter and is looking to give some of the little furballs away.
The flyer in this story is not like that.
A picture of the note in question has gone massively viral. The woman who typed it up, known only as Clara, isn’t looking to buy a cat. She’s not looking to adopt, and she didn’t lose one. Instead, this woman just wants to borrow a cat. That’s right — borrow one.
Everyone has been scratching their heads at this random and potentially creepy request. Why on earth would someone want to just borrow a cat for a while? Once you see what the woman intends for the kitty, however, you’ll see how heartwarming and adorable the request actually is.
You already know what's coming, but here's the original tweet:
Apparently Clara decided to ask around the office on the off chance that someone had a kitty matching her needs — which, to be fair, are pretty specific:
Now do you see why everyone’s absolutely in love with this note? That went from creepy to cute in zero seconds flat!
The tweet promoting Clara’s search promptly exploded on Twitter. Knowing that this woman was just trying to give her kids a real-life Garfield experience, the world was more than willing to help out.
People around the world are offering up their cats!
The entire thread is absolute gold. It’s amazing to see people come together over something so sweet.
Some look more like Garfield than others.
And believe us when we say that the word “purrrfect” has not been typed more in a single internet thread ever!
You do have to wonder, however, how these cats would feel if they knew what their owners were doing.
Would this kitty understand that he was being offered for a good cause?
Would Tang here play nice with the children?
And most importantly, would these kitties be willing to eat massive amounts of lasagna?
But of all the many adorable strings of tweets in this thread, Panini's story is our favorite.
He might not have the weight necessary to pull off a perfect Garfield, but look at that face! It’s impossible not to fall in love with him.
The first response to the picture was an unsolicited request to take Panini from his owner. As ridiculous as that is, can you blame this stranger from the internet? Panini is just so darn adorable!
The very reasonable rejection from Panini’s owner was quickly met with a counteroffer.
To drive the point home, Panini’s owner showed that the cat was too precious to sell.
Thankfully, before this got any weirder, the bidder stepped away and gave a blessing to the cat and its master.
But who knows? Maybe Panini will be the perfect cat for Clara’s dinner!
The internet truly is a special place.
