Life wasn’t necessarily better back in the day, but there’s no denying that it was definitely different, and there were lots of everyday things you probably never thought would become obsolete (or, goodness, vintage!).
While some of these objects are still around, they’re now considered antiquated and are no longer part of the average American’s day-to-day life.
But how we wish they were! We miss those simple pleasures: Putting on a new vinyl record, flipping through a Sears Christmas catalogue, and dialing up a friend on an old rotary telephone!

1. Rotary Telephones
Nowadays, dialing a number is as simple as pressing a few buttons, but not back in the day!
If your finger snagged the wrong hole, it was easy to dial the wrong number.
2. S&H Green Stamps
Grocery stores gave these out as part of a rewards program operated by the Sperry & Hutchinson company. There was nothing more exciting than getting one of these booklets!
3. Hot Rollers
Sure, regular old curling irons do the trick much faster, but there was something nice about having a cup of tea while waiting to fancy up.
There was no Google or Siri back in the day! Research meant a trip to the local library and lots of time spent flipping pages.
And remember all of the things you accidentally learned?
