When the marine patrol got a call about a struggling bobcat, they didn’t know what they were in for.
The person who called in said the bobcat was stuck between the railings below the El Jobean Bridge. The terrified feline needed immediate help and just like that, deputies were on their way.
In the video below, posted on January 2, 2018, we see footage from the harrowing rescue. The deputies use their boat to close in on the bobcat and extend a control pole toward the bottom of the bridge.
It isn’t easy, but soon the deputies and volunteers from the Wildlife Center of Venice are able to grab ahold of the bobcat using the pole.
In a single, swift movement, they grab the animal and swing him onto their boat.
The frightened cat tries to escape, but that’s because he has no clue he’s being helped.
After the big rescue was over, the deputies concluded that a car must have hit the bobcat on the bridge before he fell and took shelter underneath.
Thankfully, the bobcat recovered from his minor injuries within a few days and was released into the wild to continue living his life!
