Listen, all of us dream of meeting Jay-Z and Beyoncé, but you can’t just rush at them like this!
A fan at the hip-hop couple’s Atlanta concert has been charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery after he jumped on stage at the end of the show.
Because this is 2018 and the world is constantly filming everything on their phones, there is plenty of footage of the incident. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell, and apparently he had a lot of liquid courage pumping through his blood that evening — meaning he was intoxicated. Once he got on stage, video footage shows him running straight for Jay-Z and making “contact” with the rapper and mogul before being restrained by a mix of backup dancers and security.
Jay & Bey were unharmed in the incident, but Anthony had to be treated in a hospital for minor injuries. Some angles make it look like Anthony was acting aggressively before he went out of sight, and the massive group that stopped him responded with an equal amount of force.
The tour issued a statement on the matter: “At the end of last night’s show, we had an intoxicated male enter the stage. At this point, we had a controlled evacuation of all crew on the stage in order to safely defuse the situation.” Beyoncé’s spokeswoman also addressed the situation, saying, “Thank you to all the fans for your concern. They are fine and looking forward to the show tomorrow.”
