I’ve been lucky enough to eat in some of the best steakhouses in New York, but I’ve never learned how to prepare steak myself. When I cook, I tend to opt for old standards like meatballs and chicken cutlets. Steak is a bit outside of my cooking comfort zone.

To be honest, I never bothered to learn because I assumed the art of preparing a perfectly seasoned steak dinner would be far too cumbersome to master – but Jill Urban just taught me something new.

It isn’t hard at all. Whether you like your steak rare, medium, or well, you can prep it in no time. The secret? Don’t defrost.

Most people think that you need to defrost steak before cooking it, but this kitchen hack says otherwise. This isn’t the first time one of our hacks has turned something I’ve believed all my life on it’s head – this watermelon hack also made my BBQs so much better!
