Oprah Meets Mom Trying To Support Family Of 12 So She Buys Her An Empty House And Furnishes It

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

Oprah was first introduced to Bernadette Robinson at the Starbucks where the single mom worked. She was a barista and was struggling to support her big family of all on her own.

Bernadette lived with her mom, three kids, and seven nieces and nephews — all in a cramped home where they slept three to a bed. After meeting the single mom, Oprah decided to buy her a brand-new home.

Then, the talk show host teamed up with interior design guru Nate Berkus to give their new, empty home a makeover.

It took a year to finish, between finding the perfect house and completing the home makeover, but finally, it was time for the Robinson family to move into their new space.

In the video below, posted on January 20, 2015, Nate surprises the family of 12 with their newly transformed home.

Bernadette is clearly overwhelmed, especially when she sees family photos propped up. The kitchen is bright and fully updated, the living room is filled with cozy couches and a warm color scheme, and even the basement is loaded with furniture for all of the children to enjoy.

You have to see this single mom’s face when she walks in!

Check out this family’s new home makeover in the video below, and please SHARE if you’re glad Bernadette has all the space she needs for her loved ones now!
