Translucent Baby Octopus Breaks Out Of Egg Sac And Turns Brown In The Blink Of An Eye

Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

At first, this cluster of long eggs looks like some kind of flower. But inside, there’s a baby octopus, ready to hatch before the rest of his siblings!

In the video below, we see the group of eggs floating in the water and few seconds later, something inside one of them starts shifting around.

Suddenly, a baby octopus head bursts out of the translucent egg, along with some tiny tentacles. The newborn creature moves up and out of the egg, finally swimming freely in the water.

Then, something incredible happens.

The colorless baby octopus transforms into a brown, speckled sea creature in the blink of an eye!

According to The Washington Post, “In response to questions, staff tweeted that it is not unusual for baby octopuses to change color immediately after birth because the stress of hatching causes the octopuses’ chromatophores, or cells that contain pigment, to fire. But they don’t stay brown.”

Basically, the brown dots covering this octopus’ body are caused by a very emotional hatching and serve as a physical reaction to all the stress.

Have you ever seen anything this wild?
