In the wild, newborns are much more susceptible to attacks from other animals. And as much as the mother tries to protect her little one, sometimes these attacks are impossible to prevent.

That was the case for this baby donkey below, who received deep wounds after an attack from another animal.

Thankfully, Animal Aid Unlimited, India arrived at the scene to help the injured animal, as it has done several times before. Who could forget about the time the organization saved a stray dog with severe blisters, and the time it aided an abandoned dog who was found in a person’s bathroom?

When the rescue group showed up in this case, they saw the little donkey covered in turmeric powder, which locals placed on the wounds in hopes that it would stop the bleeding.

Animal Aid Unlimited quickly scooped up the baby as her mom watched. She followed close behind in fear that these strangers would strip her little one away. But the caring mama was taken away, too.

The organization immediately took care of the donkey’s wounds, and she recovered in no time. Just wait until you see the little one trotting around by the end of the video!

Warning: this video contains graphic footage of the animal’s wounds.

Watch the rescue below, and please SHARE if you’re glad this sweet donkey got a second chance at life!
