On April 23, 2012, the Cincinnati Zoo welcomed their first camel baby in 30 years.
The little baby was born to mom Saarai and Humphrey, the first calf for both camels.
The little guy was born at the zoo only hours after his mom began to show active signs of labor.
What most might not know about camels and other animals with hooves is that their babies can walk within the first hour of their birth.
Camels can often walk within their first 30 minutes of life. Typically the little one stays with Mom for the first two weeks of life.
In the video below, you can see the baby calf make his first attempts at walking, but he falls over quite a bit as he can’t get his footing.
But he has a goal in his infant mind to get up, and after a bit of trying, he’s finally able to stand!
If you admire this little guy’s determination, you’ll also love this baby giraffe at the Chester Zoo standing up on his own only several minutes after he was born.
Please SHARE this miracle of birth with all your friends and family who love to see how animals deliver their babies!
