U.S. Army Spc. Chris Harris was deployed overseas when he learned his wife Britt was pregnant with their first child. The 25-year-old soldier from North Carolina was over the moon; Britt says it was the happiest she’d ever seen him.

Just one week later, Chris was killed in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber.

Enter Chris’ band of brothers — the 2nd Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82 Airborne Division. Britt knew how important his fellow soldiers were to him, so she wanted them to be a big part of their baby’s life and share in the milestones. Instead of telling her friends and family the baby’s gender, she had Chris’ combat team announce the gender in a viral video they recorded overseas.

Britt gave birth on March 17, 2018. In the weeks that followed, she scheduled a photo shoot with her daughter Christian, who she named after Chris.

But when she arrived to the shoot, she wasn’t alone… not by a long shot.
