Family Secretly Keeps Malnourished Tiger As Pet In Backyard Before Rescuers Change Her Life

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

It’s astonishing how many people obtain wild animals as pets. Even if you’re 100% devoted to them, a wild animal is still a wild animal.

When Aria was brought home by a family to be their pet tiger, nobody expected her to get sick. Her family loved her, and although they thought they knew how to care for a pet tiger, Aria needed a saving grace.

Then, her heroes arrived. Aria was severely underweight when she was first taken from her family’s backyard.

In the video below, posted on December 7, 2017, a curator of animals named Kathryn Bertok explains: “I do think they cared a great deal about her, they were just unable to provide her with the veterinary care that she needed. Dogs and cats get sent back to the pound. What do you do with a tiger that now needs a home?”

Kathryn recalls the day she met Aria. “Because she wasn’t absorbing nutrients well, her fur was not growing in right,” she said.

The team changed her whole diet around, ultimately saving her life. Aria was raised back to health and went on to live a good life!

Unfortunately, Aria passed away on November 15, 2016, due to a neurological issue. Although she is no longer with us, her story still serves as a reminder that wild animals deserve all the respect and love they can get.

Check out how Aria transformed in the video below, and please SHARE if you’re glad this wild animal got all the help she needed to feel like herself again!
