Anna Marie Davis was just a few feet from her driveway in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The energetic 11-year-old was having fun on her skateboard when she zipped down her driveway and into the street — and was struck by a car.
Anna was rushed to the hospital but ultimately died as a result of her injuries.
Her siblings’ last memory of Anna is seeing the accident taking place in front of their house. “If you knew Anna, that’s not a memory she’d want you to have of her,” said her mom Bethany.
In the wake of Anna’s death, her community came together to memorialize her in a beautiful and fitting way. A life-sized statue of Anna, made of smooth marble, was placed on the family’s lawn.
It’s truly a tribute to the positive impact Anna had on everyone who knew her. According to her loved ones, Anna was constantly smiling and laughing — an absolute ray of sunshine.
The statue is surrounded by a garden filled with things she loved, like frogs, fishing, and wearing dresses.
In the clip below, see the beautiful masterpiece that Bethany says has brought her a sense of peace.
