Amy Schumer is a mom! The actress and comedian welcomed her first child with husband Chris Fischer on the evening of May 5.
Amy shared the news with fans the following morning with a sweet Instagram post. She wrote, “10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born.” The nod to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new arrival shows the excitement and magic the new parents are feeling about their little one, also a boy.
“Met Monday” was certainly filled with baby news, and Amy didn’t forget about the special event. Prior to her announcement, she posted two photos showing her posing in front of the setup for the 2019 Met Gala.
The comedian stopped for the shots on her way to the hospital, where her little guy was born hours later. Now we’re learning what Amy and Chris have named their baby boy.
After a long and difficult pregnancy, Amy Schumer welcomed her little boy into the world late Sunday night. Amy announced the birth of her son via Instagram early Monday.
Before sharing the big news, she talked about the other trending topic of the day, the Met Gala. Amy stopped and posed for some pictures in front of the setup for the big night on Sunday while she was on her way to the hospital.
Amy and Chris tied the knot in February of last year. The two met through Chris’ sister, who is Amy’s assistant.
Fans got a hint that Amy and Chris might be expecting. In October, the comedian posted a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Photoshopped her and Chris’ heads on the couple.
Amy confirmed the news of her pregnancy with fans later that day. Jessica Yellin of News Not Noise posted Amy’s voting recommendations with the big news being the final item on the list.
While the news was exciting, Amy had a tough pregnancy. Before the end of the year, she was hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum.
Amy was forced to cancel some tour dates, which was hard for her. Luckily, she kept her sense of humor about it all throughout.
The complications continued into the holiday season. Amy posted a video of herself throwing up on the side of the road while celebrating Christmas.
Amy’s struggle with vomiting continued into her third trimester. It forced Amy to cancel her remaining tour dates.
Amy appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers in March to promote her new Netflix special. She decided to trick fans by wearing a fake baby bump over her real one, which many just assumed was her way of announcing she was having multiples.
Amy posted a pregnancy update just four days ago, joking about how long her pregnancy has seemed. People apparently made comments to the comedian, who obviously knew better than anyone did how long it felt.
Amy’s last pregnancy update came at the end of a post where Amy and Chris spoke out against Wendy’s. At the end of the caption, she added, “Also we are having a boy.”
Now that Amy’s little guy is here, we’re learning his name! She introduced the world to Gene Attell Fischer in a post that shows him in his dad’s arms.
Gene’s middle name may be a nod to fellow comedian and friend of the couple, Dave Attell. Dave and Amy grew up going to the same synagogue in Long Island, New York.
