Three-year-old Akshaj Khandelwal from Dwarka in Delhi, India, has been diagnosed with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome (KTS).

KTS is a rare condition that has caused excessive growth on the right side of his body, and specifically his right leg, which has swelled four times its normal size.

KTS affects just one to two in 100,000 people. Side effects include port wine stains, large varicose veins, and extra growth of one limb.

Though the size of Akshaj’s leg is a staggering and heartbreaking sight, and his health continues to decline, Akshaj’s outlook on life is truly incredible.

The little boy’s positivity is thanks to his devoted mother and father, who have instilled in him a sense of pride in his birth defect.

The father, Ankur, and mother, Shruti, told him his condition is a gift from God. Should his classmates bully or tease him, Akshaj knows not to respond with anger or violence.

Instead of getting down on himself or feeling ashamed to be in public, Akshaj declares things like, “I am Superman!” It’s truly incredible to watch him smile and play in the clip below.

“Negativity always creeps in very fast,” Shruti says. “but we still try to overcome it.”

However, Akshaj doesn’t even know he has a medical condition. Some viewers believe his parents should be more honest and tell him more about KTS. What do you think?
