Adam Levine is living a completely different life just four months after his sudden departure from The Voice.
Adam had been on the show since the beginning, so fans were eager to hear what he was doing with all his newfound free time. The musician appeared on Ellen to dish on life as a “stay-at-home dad.”
The 40-year-old Maroon 5 frontman shares two daughters with wife Behati Prinsloo: 3-year-old Dusty Rose and 19-month-old Gio Grace. He’s been enjoying staying home and getting quality time in with his little girls after years of working nonstop. He’s also taking the time to work on some new music.
But there is one tiny snag in the daddy-daughter time. Apparently, Dusty Rose is not a fan of her dad’s musical abilities. The singer shared some hilarious stories about how his little girl urges him not to sing. It even makes Adam self-conscious. Thankfully, Gio is more into her dad’s voice.
It’s been four months since fans of The Voice were shocked by the news of Adam Levine’s departure from the show. Although fans had been told Adam would return for season 17, at the last minute it was revealed Adam would be leaving the show.
After being a coach for 16 seasons, many fans wondered what was next for the Maroon 5 frontman. He appeared on a recent episode of Ellen to give everyone an update on what he’s been up to.
Adam looked great (as usual) and revealed he was enjoying being a full-time parent and spending quality time with his family. He and wife Behati Prinsloo share two daughters, 3-year-old Dusty Rose and 19-month-old Gio Grace.
“I do miss it, but I also don’t miss how much I had to work,” Adam said of his time on The Voice. “I was just constantly working for so many years — very lucky, very fortunate, very blessed and all that, but [I wanted] to be able to spend time in this moment with my new, young family, and just have the greatest time ever.”
“Now I’m just, like, a stay-at-home dad,” Adam joked. “I just stay home and do very little. It’s great.” While he feels like he isn’t doing a whole lot, Ellen applauded him for being a hands-on dad to his two little girls.
“I’m obsessed with them,” Adam said of his little girls. “I know that’s a good thing, because they’re my children … that’s why I don’t do much, because I love hanging [out with them]. I genuinely adore them in a way that I never knew I could adore any little person.”
He’s also working on new music during his free time, although he has a critic under his own roof. Adam revealed that older daughter Dusty is not a fan of his voice. “You’d think that [Dusty would] like when I sang to her, but she just doesn’t like it that much,” he shyly admitted.
“I wish I was lying,” he continued. He recalled a time where he was playing guitar for Dusty. “[There] was one moment where I spent with her kind of just playing guitar. She was playing with stuff and looking up at me every once in a while.”
“I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, it’s working, she’s loving this, so great.’ I was like auditioning for my daughter, which is ridiculous. And we’re having fun,” he recalled. Then, Dusty delivered a crushing blow to her old man.
Dusty leaned over and touched her dad’s guitar. “Put that down,” she told him
“I was like, ‘Put that down? Cool. Sweet.’ It was the most humbling thing that’s ever happened,” Adam revealed, blushing slightly.
The incident was a little upsetting for Adam. It was definitely not what he was expecting from his own daughter. “I don’t know if I have the courage to confront her again and perform music in front of her,” he said.
Thankfully for Adam, he has a fan in little Gio. “The other one likes it,” he said. “Gio loves music. But yeah, Dusty’s the manager, you know? Gio’s the talent, Dusty’s the manager,” he joked. Adam’s already amazed by how different his little girls are from one another.
Despite their differing feelings about their dad’s musical talents, both girls tuned in to watch when Adam performed at the Super Bowl with Maroon 5 in early 2019. Behati posted a photo of the sweet moment to Instagram.
Adam’s life is different than it used to be. Not only is he slowing things down from his previous nonstop lifestyle, but now he’s got two little girls to keep him on his toes. It seems like the singer is loving every moment of it.
