We all know that teachers have an exceptional ability to get through to kids.

Growing up, I was lucky enough to have a handful of teachers with that incredible, life-changing knack of taking a complicated, challenging concept, and putting it into terms that kids instinctively understand.

There’s nothing more valuable than a teacher who reaches out to really show students that they are worthy, as we saw with this sweet teacher who emphasized that test scores don’t determine your worth.

Here at LittleThings, we know that for teachers, reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic is just one small part of the job.

For most teachers, it’s all about the kids, and showing each and every one how special they all are. Sure, it’s the job of teachers to give information, but just as often, it’s their job to instill intangible skills like bravery, confidence, creativity, and self-worth.

In an old story that has been circulating for years, one teacher gives her students an incredible lesson about a person’s value, using nothing but a $20 bill.

She offers it to her students, and all volunteer to take it. Then she folds it, crumples it, and throws it on the ground.

When she asks again, the way the kids in her class respond? This says something truly beautiful about the value of every single individual.
