A video of a young girl battling kidney cancer is inspiring thousands. Anya Ottley took the mic at a family friend’s wedding to belt out “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten, a song that perfectly sums up her fearless attitude.

Anya was diagnosed with kidney cancer last November. After 28 rounds of intensive chemotherapy, Anya is finally scheduled to finish her treatment at Manchester Children’s Hospital next month. The whole family plans to celebrate with a “ring-the-bell” party to mark the occasion. That’s where Anya, 6, plans to sing the song to celebrate her recovery.

“Anya asked me what the song should be and we thought about ‘Fight Song,’ which fits really well,” says Kathryn, 43, Anya’s mom.

The song’s chorus includes the lyrics: “This is my fight song, take back my life song, prove I’m alright song… ’cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me.”

“She wanted to sing at the wedding and I told her it would be a good time to practice it for her party,” Kathryn says.

The performance brought a tear to Kathryn’s eye, and no wonder – it’s an amazing sight to see! No one could have predicted, though, that Anya’s performance would touch so many hearts around the world.

“Her uncle Aidan posted it online afterwards and the reaction it has had is incredible. I’ve had people messaging me from the USA and Australia.”

Little Anya was speechless when she found out that the video of her performance had over a million views.

“Anya is such an incredibly brave and beautiful little girl,” Kathryn says. I think we can all agree on that.

Grab some tissues, and prepare to be inspired by this brave little girl…
