Photos help us keep our memories alive and allow us to think back to a certain time or place. For five best friends named John “Wedge” Wardlaw, Mark Rumer-Cleary, Dallas Burney, John Molony, and John Dickson, one specific picture helped spark a never-ending tradition.
In 1982, the five friends gathered on a camping ground after graduating high school. They all sat on a fence and posed together, which resulted in their now infamous vacation photo.
In the video below, posted on June 26, 2017, Wedge explains, “We were all here when we were age 19 at my family’s cabin.”
Five years after the original photo, the five best friends reunited to recreate it in 1987, then 1992, 1997, and so on. Every five years, they struck the same poses and used the same props, a hat, a glass jar, and one pair of sunglasses.
No matter where they were or what was going on in their lives, the men made sure to reunite and take their favorite picture.
35 years later, the men still continue this pattern.
Now they look so different, but their facial expressions and dedication to keeping up this tradition remains.
