Most of us feel like 2020 has been a crazy year. But it’s tough to claim it as “the craziest” since a majority of us haven’t lived through other huge world changes.

That’s where Stefina Rugal comes in. Stefina is 103 and has lived through both World Wars. If anyone’s an expert on world events, it’s likely her.

Stefina has been living in her assisted living space for two years — and she’s one of the most popular women there. Known best as Stevie, staff members always notice her laugh and her will to participate in group activities.

Stevie admits that out of all the hardships she’s gone through in her lifetime, 2020 has been one of the hardest years. “I think there were easier times than there is now,” she said.

She pointed out how people are more willing to fight and get into disagreements, and she stated things just seemed happier back in the day. “Everything’s different and it’s strange to me,” she admitted.

While a lot of today’s issues may be tough to explain to a 103-year-old who grew up in a completely different time, Stevie always means well. She tries to see the happiness in life and hang around with people who make her smile. Especially, as she happens to note, her boyfriends.

“I like everybody,” she says. “I’m not hateful.”

Watch Stevie’s entire interview. It’ll give you a great picture of what this year truly looks like to someone who can very expertly compare.
