What does $15,000 get you nowadays?
It’s certainly not the amount 0f money it used to be. You’re not going to be buying a house (unless you’re looking to build your own tiny house), and $15,000 doesn’t even cover a semester at some colleges.
So what if I told you that you could own an entire private island resort for $15,000?
It sounds utterly impossible, but for one Australian couple it became a reality.
Melita Koulmandas Hunter and her husband, Rory, were supposed to move to New York, but it all changed when they decided to visit Cambodia on vacation. The Cambodian locals who owned the island saw the Hunter family and took a liking to them. They were eager for a change and, knowing Rory’s experience as a developer, they made a bold offer to sell the island to the Hunters for the relatively meager sum of $15,000!
The Hunters leaped on the offer and it’s changed their lives. And the story is really just getting started…

Melita, Rory, and their son Naryth are now the proud owners of their own island.
All of this only cost them $15,000.
They were able to obtain a 99-year lease with the national government.
The Hunters decided to use the island to open a private resort.
They've now opened a luxurious, award-winning resort called the Song Saa.
The property features 72 private villas.
And rooms begin at $869 a night. The little $15,000 island certainly turns a great profit!
The resort is dedicated to preserving the area's natural beauty while also boosting its economy.
They refer to their staff as the Song Saa family.
Unfortunately, while in the process of turning it into a private villa, Melita received some bad news.
She was diagnosed with cancer the same day that Lehman Brothers crashed.
The Hunters were momentarily halted from pursuing their dream, but they ultimately refused to give up hope.
Now, the couple is living their island paradise dream. And it all started with $15,000.
