Natural disasters have struck again, this time in central Italy.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake has left at least 247 people dead, and hundreds of others injured.

While devastation falls on so many families, and cities, there are some people who are still out there. Some trying to help others, and some trapped hoping to be found, and saved.

In the video you’re about to watch, you’ll witness one of the many rescues taking place after the destruction the earthquake left behind. This rescue is one that strikes emotions as you watch. Simply because the person trapped, upside down, is a 10-year-old girl. The men surrounding her are trying to get her out from under a metal in Pescara del Tronto, which she was trapped in for over 17 hours.

After a tense moment of searching, they start to uncover her body. It’s a slow process to unearth her, because she looks almost completely covered — so much so, that I was literally holding my breath for the entire video.

When they finally get her out, you can hear everyone cheer. It’s moments like these that bring light to absolute disasters.

The heroes who found this young child should be recognized for their courage. To go on a rescue mission with no idea of what you’re about to find must be chilling.

We wish a speedy recovery to this brave young child and to all of the people affected.
